edwincorneliuswas born in maidstone and baptised at st peter’s church on 4th january 1885. his parents were henry and mary rose abnett (nee vinten) edwin was their eldest son> he had 14 younger siblings. at the 1911 census edwin was aged 26 and lived at 309 tonbridge road with his wife daisy gwendoline. they married in 1906 and by 1914 had 4 children: Daisy, William and Rosie were on the 1911 Census. Edwin enlisted in Maidstone on 8th August 1914 in the Special Reserve of the West Kent Regiment.
